HOMESCHOOL PROGRAMS

SHARING NATURE THROUGH EXPLORATION, INQUIRY, AND PLAY

If your family homeschools, we can support your goals for STEM-based learning in nature! Our weekly homeschool series offers playful enrichment to your curriculum. If you'd like to bring your co-op or group for a visit, our naturalists lead seasonal hikes and animal encounters for children of all ages.

COYOTE HOMESCHOOL
NATURE SERIES

April 25 – May 30, 2019  Register here!
Thursdays, 1:30 – 4 PM

Open to children ages 5-8 years old
$150 per 6-week semester

Howl with us! Children love to explore the weird and wild aspects of nature and this is the perfect way to do it! This weekly drop-off series develops a strong sense of place and class community as science, art, math, and literacy opportunities unfold in the forest. We hike the trails in all weather and seasons getting to know nature in all her many forms. We hone sensory naturalist skills, nurture vales of empathy and conservation, and experience Baltimore's vast wilderness park at the Gwynns Falls trail. Nature journaling and photographs provide documentation of our learning for homeschool families.

The Coyotes have an indoor class space to use during inclement weather, but the class primarily meets outdoors. Please review the confirmation materials carefully to be sure your child is prepared to explore in all weather. We will gladly provide gear for any children who need it, but please let us know in advance. Children should also pack a healthy snack and bring a water canteen each week.

No two days are alike, as we follow the interests of the children and seasonal discoveries we find along the way. But each class follows a daily rhythm to help you and your child know what to expect. A sample rhythm is below:

RHYTHM OF THE DAY

Opening nature provocations with natural materials/artifacts

Gathering at the circle or campfire

Group inquiry and discussion about seasonal topics

     Trail exploration

     Closing reflections
